Welcome to the readers' club

I’m so pleased you’ve found your way here. My Readers’ Club is where the real journey begins — early glimpses of works‑in‑progress, behind‑the‑scenes notes, exclusive short stories, and the occasional piece of microfiction that deepens the world of the Aucourte Chronicles. Members receive a weekly newsletter: sometimes a quick update, sometimes something more indulgent.

Before you join, you may want to know a little about me and the kind of stories I write.

I’ve been writing for longer than I care to admit — beginning with fiction for UK women’s magazines back when they still published short stories. After a few detours, I found my home in historical fiction with a strong romantic core. I’m not a historian, but I take great care with accuracy; if I include a historical detail, you can trust I’ve researched it thoroughly.

What matters most to me are the people on the page. I write deep, sometimes flawed characters because real humans are rarely perfect, and I want my stories to feel lived‑in and emotionally true.

Most of my books are set in Britain, though not exclusively. The Aucourte Chronicles follow the noble, castle‑dwelling Aucourtes — their family, their friends, and the staff who share their world. If you enjoy the atmosphere of Downton Abbey, Upstairs Downstairs, or The Forsyte Saga, you’ll have a sense of the tone and texture waiting for you.

If you’re drawn to character‑rich stories, layered plots, and a touch of historical reality woven into the fiction, then you may feel at home here. And if you’d like to join a community of readers who enjoy my work, you’re warmly invited to sign up and receive the current free story, Primroses & Wine, which introduces Alice Aucourte — heroine of The Earl’s Daughter.

Your Exclusive Readers’ Club Story

Primroses & Wine is the current Readers’ Club short story — a gentle introduction to the world of the Aucourtes. Set at Sea Castle in the spring of 1892, it follows Alice and her younger sister as they talk about Alice’s upcoming London season, unaware that the summer ahead will bring unexpected change.

It’s a quiet moment before the storm of The Earl’s Daughter — a glimpse of family life, sisterly mischief, and the hopes Alice carries before everything shifts.

If you enjoy character‑driven historical fiction with emotional depth and a touch of romance, this story will ease you into the Aucourte Chronicles and the world I’m building.
